The Hampi route is flat, fast national highway almost the entire way, which makes it easy to assume fuel stops will be just as easy to find whenever you need one. They mostly are — until you're past Chitradurga. That stretch genuinely has fewer reliable pumps than the highway before it, and on a 350km-plus one-way drive, that's not a gap you want to discover with a low tank.
